In Kharkiv region, TRC officials were detained for a bribe: for 250,000 hryvnias they promised rear-area service

Prosecutors of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the Field of Defence of the Eastern Region have notified two officials of the district territorial recruitment and social support center of suspicion after exposing them for extorting UAH 250,000 from a person liable for military service.

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

"According to the investigation, for this amount they promised to ensure the man’s service in a rear unit — as a driver at the territorial recruitment and social support center — instead of being sent to combat units.

To arrange service in a rear unit, a conclusion of the military medical commission was prepared regarding the man’s fitness for service in support units, territorial recruitment centers, training centers, and other similar units.

On May 21, 2026, law enforcement officers detained both officials in the Kharkiv region immediately after they received UAH 250,000.

During searches of their offices, documents and mobile phones were seized. The involvement of other persons in the scheme is being checked.

Both suspects have been placed in pretrial detention with the option of posting bail. They have also been suspended from their positions.

In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court," the Office of the Prosecutor General said in a statement.
