The Solomyansky District Court of Kyiv delivered a verdict in a case involving the large-scale embezzlement of budget funds during the supply of military uniforms for the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
This is reported by the Telegram channel «Sudom po skhemam» with reference to the materials of case No. 760/29251/25.
According to the investigation, no later than June 2022 an organized group was formed which, according to the court, was engaged in embezzling state funds during the procurement of textile products for the defence agency.
A foreign non-resident company and front persons were involved in the scheme, through whom contracts were concluded with manufacturers. The products were purchased at one price and supplied to the Ministry of Defence at a significantly higher cost.
According to the case materials, in one episode alone the overstatement amounted to more than UAH 223 million. Another attempt to embezzle over UAH 237 million was not completed due to the refusal to accept defective products.
One of the accomplices — a Ukrainian citizen and student at two universities — appeared before the court. He was charged with participating in the legal support of contracts, quality control, and preparation of documents for the supply.
The accused pleaded guilty, expressed remorse, and partially compensated the damages.
The court sentenced him to 5 years of imprisonment but released him from serving the sentence with a probationary period of 3 years. Fines and procedural decisions regarding property and court costs were also applied.
