Scheme for 7.7 million: HACC takes Poltava city council deputy Yuriy Brazhnyk into custody

Poltava City Council Deputy Yuriy Brazhnyk has been taken into custody.

On June 11, the High Anti-Corruption Court imposed a preventive measure on Poltava City Council Deputy Yuriy Brazhnyk. He was placed in custody with the option to post bail.

The investigation alleges that from April 2024 to January 2026, the deputy established a mechanism for systematically receiving bribes from contractors of the Housing and Utilities Department. According to the prosecution, contractors paid 10% of the contract value in exchange for unimpeded execution of works, timely payments, and the awarding of new contracts.

Brazhnyk is charged with receiving undue benefits totaling over UAH 7.7 million. The article in question provides for a penalty of 8–12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The defence requested a milder preventive measure, but the court upheld the prosecution’s position.
