Over 356,000 Russian targets struck: Zelenskyy presents state awards and battle flags to unmanned systems units

The Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have destroyed over 356,000 Russian objects over the past year. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy named this branch of the military one of Ukraine’s most important achievements and an example of the successful implementation of modern technologies on the front line.

The head of state stated this during festive events marking the Day of the Unmanned Systems Forces. Zelenskyy awarded servicemen with state decorations, presented the Order of the “Golden Star” to the relatives of a fallen Hero of Ukraine, and handed battle flags to USS units.

Over the year, drones struck more than 356,000 Russian targets

The President emphasized that the creation of the Unmanned Systems Forces was a significant step in building the Armed Forces of Ukraine and reinforced Ukraine’s leadership in military technology.

According to Zelenskyy, from June of last year to June of this year alone, USS operators struck over 356,000 enemy targets.

“The Unmanned Systems Forces are one of Ukraine’s greatest achievements. This confirms our technological leadership and helps save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers. The number of Russian targets hit thanks to the USS already reaches hundreds of thousands per year, and from June of last year to June of this year — over 356,000,” the President stated.

Zelenskyy awards USS warriors

During the ceremony, the head of state presented state awards to servicemen of the Unmanned Systems Forces who distinguished themselves while carrying out combat missions.

Separately, Zelenskyy handed the Order of the “Golden Star” to the family of a defender posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine. Combat flags were also presented to USS units participating in combat operations.

The President noted that the successes of Ukrainian drone operators were made possible by the professionalism of servicemen at all levels — from soldiers and sergeants to unit commanders.

“I am proud of each and every one”

Zelenskyy thanked all USS servicemen for their service and contribution to the defence of the country.

“Thank you! I am proud of each and every one who serves in the USS — from soldiers and sergeants to Madyar and all commanders,” he said.

The head of state also stressed that Ukraine remembers every warrior who gave their life for independence. It is thanks to their courage and self-sacrifice that the country continues to fight and strengthen its defence capabilities.

The Unmanned Systems Forces were established as a separate branch of the armed forces in 2024. In that time, they have become one of the key elements of Ukraine’s defence, providing reconnaissance, fire adjustment, and strikes against enemy targets at a great distance from the front line.
