Europe needs Ukraine, because the security challenges from the RF are a long-term strategy, - Zelenskyy

Many foreign leaders recognize that the EU is needed not only by Ukraine, but Ukraine is also necessary for the European Union. At the same time, the aggressor state RF is trying to bribe individual politicians so that they «simply sell to the Kremlin the interests of their nations and the common interests of Europe».

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a new address to the nation, which he recorded on Saturday evening, June 13. The video was published on YouTube by the press service of the Office of the President.

Negotiations on accession to the European Union

Zelenskyy noted that the Ukrainian side is already preparing for a series of diplomatic measures that will begin next week (from June 15). According to the President, the week will be busy starting Monday.

The EU has confirmed its readiness to open the first cluster, which gives new impetus to negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the bloc. 

«We have done everything possible for this progress, and I am grateful to everyone who helped us and works for the benefit of the state. Ukraine is ready to open six clusters and expects that already this summer it will be possible to achieve new results on the path of integration into the European Union. There will be no delays on our part. It is important that partners also realize the full significance of this process», — the head of state emphasized.

From many leaders one can hear that «not only Europe needs Ukraine, but Ukraine also needs Europe — and this is true».

«Given Russia’s long-term intentions — the construction of military bases near Europe even in those regions where they did not exist in Soviet times — without Ukraine, our capabilities and experience, it will be extremely difficult for Europe. Security challenges from Russia are not for a year or five years. Russia has chosen a long-term anti-European and anti-democratic strategy and is building its policy around it.

Nothing else is heard from Moscow. Unless they are trying to bribe certain politicians with various benefits — not for the sake of peace, but so that these politicians sell to Russia the interests of their nations and common European interests. In the end they lose, like Orban, but many still try to “make friends” with Putin’s wallets and turn a blind eye to real events», — the President summarized.
