Russian Boeing 737 sends distress signal over the Black Sea: 189 people on board

Over the Black Sea, a Russian passenger liner transmitted a distress signal.

This is reported by Russian Telegram channels.

The Boeing 737-800 aircraft of Smartavia airline, operating the Sochi — Arkhangelsk flight, sent code 7700, which means an emergency situation on board.

There are 189 people on board. After sending the signal, the plane disappeared from radars, but later reappeared.

According to public assumptions, the crew is burning off fuel before returning to land in Sochi. The liner has already been in the air for about an hour.
