A serviceman was found dead in Ternopil region, police investigating intentional murder

A soldier from Zbarazh region found dead: police consider version of intentional murder.

"With deep sorrow, I report the tragic death of the defender of Ukraine, Sergeant Svyatoslav Sapiha. Svyatoslav began his military path at the start of the Anti-Terrorist Operation, serving in the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade (military unit V0259). When the Russian aggressor launched a full-scale invasion in 2022, he unhesitatingly volunteered once again to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Refusing a position in a repair unit, he chose the combat path and joined military unit A3215 — the 44th Separate Artillery Brigade named after Hetman Danylo Apostol," - reported Roman Polikrovskyi. 

His combat path took him through the hottest sectors of the front — Kyiv region, Zhytomyr region, Donetsk region, Zaporizhzhya, and Kursk.

Sviatoslav repeatedly carried out the most difficult combat missions, demonstrating courage, professionalism, and devotion to his military oath.

For his service, he was awarded state and military honors both during the ATO period and during the full-scale war.

Among them are the President of Ukraine’s award "For the Defence of Ukraine," the Cross of the Missile Forces and Artillery of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, two awards from the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "For Excellence in Military Service," as well as the Honorary Award of the Commander of the 44th Separate Artillery Brigade named after Hetman Danylo Apostol.

In January of this year, Svyatoslav was wounded.

After treatment and rehabilitation, he returned to service and held the position of sergeant for materiel support of the rocket artillery battery of military unit A3215, remaining alongside his brothers-in-arms and continuing to serve Ukraine.

Yet his greatest pride was his family.

A loving husband, a caring father of two children, and a model family man — this is how his relatives, friends, brothers-in-arms, and all who had the honor of knowing Sviatoslav will remember him.

"Unfortunately, the warrior’s life was cut short under tragic circumstances. Sviatoslav was found dead. According to preliminary information, one of the versions being considered by law enforcement is possible intentional murder. A pre-trial investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of his death," Roman Polikrovskyi wrote. "If anyone has any information that could help establish the truth, please report it to law enforcement or write in a private message. Every detail may be of great importance."

Svyatoslav Sapiha remained faithful to his military oath, his family, and Ukraine until the very end.

Heartfelt condolences to his wife, children, parents, relatives, brothers-in-arms, and all who knew and loved Sviatoslav.
