SSU exposes channel for smuggling psychotropics to Europe in Kirovohrad region
The Security Service of Ukraine has dismantled a channel for the international supply of particularly dangerous psychotropic substances abroad in the Kirovohrad region.
This is reported by the Security Service of Ukraine Directorate in the Kirovohrad region
According to the investigation, the organizer of the illegal scheme was a resident of Kropyvnytskyi, who arranged the shipment of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances to European countries using the logistics capabilities of one of the postal operators.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers seized an international postal shipment from one of the postal operators heading to one of the European countries and ordered its expert examination.
According to the expert examination, the package contained mephedrone, a particularly dangerous psychotropic substance whose circulation is completely banned in Ukraine.
During searches at the suspect’s place of residence, law enforcement officers seized physical evidence confirming his involvement in organizing the channel for smuggling psychotropic substances.
Currently, SBU investigators have notified the suspect of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 305 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (smuggling of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues committed on a large scale).
The measures to expose the criminal activity were carried out by SBU officers in the Kirovohrad region together with employees of the Lviv Customs, under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s office.
