The decision on the resignation of Defence Minister Fedorov has not yet been made, — MP Zheleznyak
Any statements about the adoption of a final personnel decision regarding the resignation of the current head of the defence department, Mykhailo Fedorov, do not correspond to reality at this time and are premature. The corresponding personnel changes in the highest echelons of power are exclusively within the competence of the head of state.
This was stated by People’s Deputy of Ukraine from the "Voice" faction Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
The parliamentarian emphasized that discussions about a possible change in the leadership of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine are currently only behind-the-scenes talks, not a fait accompli. According to him, the final verdict remains with the country’s leader.
"To say that the decision has ALREADY been made is premature," Zheleznyak noted during a conversation with journalists in the corridors of the Verkhovna Rada.
He also added that such steps are the prerogative of the President of Ukraine and no one else. The deputy hinted that the reasons for a potential dismissal, if implemented, should be sought in the realm of political ratings, Fedorov’s popularity, and the likely formation of a competitive environment in future political races. No official submissions regarding personnel changes in the ministry have yet been received by parliament.
