The "Parkovyi-2" company is seeking a court order to prohibit Alina Stryzhak, TsPK, and "Slidstvo.Info" from collecting data on the property of the brother of SBI Director Sukhachov
The company “Parkovyi-2”, which is part of the structure of “Stroy City Development”, has filed a lawsuit with the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv against journalist Alina Stryzhak, the Anti-Corruption Action Center (ANTAC), and “Slidstvo.Info”.
Earlier, following a motion by “Parkovyi-2” filed before the lawsuit itself, Judge Serhiy Vovk of the Pechersk Court banned journalists from disseminating in any way an investigation into 143 real estate properties.
Now, LLC “Parkovyi-2”, in addition to banning the publication of the investigation, has filed a lawsuit demanding a complete block on journalistic work related to this enterprise.
In particular, the developers are asking the court to “Terminate the actions of the defendants […] concerning the unlawful collection, storage, and processing of personal data of individuals with whom the Plaintiff LLC ‘PARKOVYI-2’ has concluded commercial agreements”.
In other words, the journalists are to be officially prohibited even from collecting and analyzing information or sending official inquiries.
The company was outraged that Alina Stryzhak, following journalistic standards, sent a request before the investigation was published asking the developer to comment on the circumstances of the acquisition of 143 real estate properties in Kharkiv by the brother of the Director of the State Bureau of Investigations. The company is attempting to interpret the collection and publication of information about more than a hundred assets as a violation of “trade secrets” and “interference in private life”.
“It is noteworthy that, unlike the previous motion for interim measures, the text of the lawsuit completely avoids mentioning the surname of the brother of the SBI Director. Yet in the motion they earlier submitted to the Pechersk Court, LLC ‘Parkovyi-2’ explicitly stated that the ban should apply specifically to Sukhachov’s brother as an individual,” notes Olena Shcherban, Deputy Executive Director of ANTAC.
Recall that on 6 July, Judge Serhiy Vovk of the Pechersk Court issued a ruling prohibiting ANTAC, “Slidstvo.Info”, and journalist Alina Stryzhak from publishing an investigation into the 143 real estate properties belonging to Oleksii Sukhachov, brother of the SBI Director.
The ruling was issued on the basis of a motion by LLC “Parkovyi-2”, which the company had sent to the court even before filing the lawsuit. “Parkovyi-2” took these legal steps after receiving Alina Stryzhak’s request for comment.
