The Anastasiya Berezovska murder case: suspects confessed to organizing a terrorist attack in Monaco

The investigation believes that the terrorist attack in Monaco was organized precisely by the handlers of Anastasiya Berezovska, who is suspected of organizing the assassination attempt on the sanctioned businessman Vadym Yermolaiev — Vitaliy Zhykovych and Vladyslav Reut. Both had previously already received suspicions in the murder of the woman.

According to the publication’s sources, both figures in the Berezovska murder case — the current HUR officer Reut and the former SSU officer Zhykovych — have begun cooperating with the investigation and are providing detailed testimonies.

It is noted that their testimonies regarding key episodes coincide, which gives investigators the opportunity to gradually reconstruct the chronology of events.

According to the suspects, the woman considered the direct perpetrator of the attempt on Yermolaiev had lived in Germany for several years with her son as a refugee.

One of the motives for her participation in the operation cited by Reut and Zhykovych is money — allegedly Berezovska planned to earn enough to buy a house in Ukraine.

The suspects said that her travel, accommodation, car rentals and other expenses were covered.

They also stated that before carrying out the main task, Berezovska had taken part in other operations, including those related to blogger Anatoliy Shariy.

One of the key episodes, according to the investigation, is the testimony about the manufacture of the explosive device.

According to «UP» sources, one of the suspects — the current HUR officer Reut — admitted that he had made the electronic initiation unit that triggers the detonation of the main charge. According to him, this element was disguised as a children’s toy car and then transferred via Germany to the perpetrator, who then assembled the device into working condition.

Meanwhile, the other suspect (Zhykovych) claims that Berezovska could not have made such a device herself, as it requires special knowledge and training.

According to one of the figures, the original plan for the operation was different: at first they intended not to kill but to abduct Vadym Yermolayev, but later allegedly changed the task.

The investigation is also checking the version that after French law enforcement established the identity of the perpetrator, the suspects decided to eliminate her because she could give testimony about other participants in the operation.

«UP» sources also reported that one of the suspects — the current DIU officer Reut — is described as a highly qualified specialist in mine-explosive matters.

The investigation continues to compare the suspects’ testimonies with other evidence. Investigative actions in the case are ongoing.

At the same time, the Prosecutor General’s Office clarified to «UP» that these two figures have so far only been charged with the murder of Berezovska.
