Taras Kachka will serve as Ukraine’s representative to the European Union in Brussels while simultaneously performing the duties of Ukraine’s trade representative, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced.

“We are awaiting decisions on four more clusters. I believe Taras will be able to implement this most effectively at Ukraine’s mission to the EU in Brussels. Taking into account Taras’s high efficiency and experience in trade policy, he will combine this work with the EU with the role of Ukraine’s trade representative under our bilateral trade agreements with key partners,” – Zelenskyy wrote on his Telegram channel on Friday.

According to the president, the conversation with Kachka also covered further work on Ukraine’s EU accession negotiations.

“We now need to develop more sectoral, detailed activity to advance the already opened clusters in the EU accession talks and to focus on communication both with EU institutions and with the national governments of EU member states to open the next clusters,” the head of state noted.

Zelenskyy added that government officials and the diplomatic team of the Presidential Office will support Kachka in carrying out the assigned tasks.

Kachka was born in 1979. In 2000–2001 he obtained a master’s degree in law from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv; in 2004–2005 he studied at the National School of Public Administration (Poland), specializing in public administration.

From 2001 to 2004 he served as a senior specialist at the Centre for European and Comparative Law under the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

From September 2005 to September 2011 he held the positions of deputy and first deputy head of the State Department for Legislative Harmonization of Ukraine.

From June 2011 to January 2012 he headed the Department of International Economic Relations at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Ukraine.

In 2014–2015 he served as acting president of the American Chamber of Commerce (ACC) in Ukraine, and in 2015 as vice president for strategic development of the ACC.

Since 6 September 2019 he has held the position of deputy minister of economy of Ukraine and trade representative of Ukraine.

From July 2025 to July 2026 he served as vice prime minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
