In the Berehove TRC, men were illegally deprived of deferments and the exit was blocked, — Lubinets

In the Berehove District TRC in Zakarpattia, numerous violations of the rights of those liable for military service were discovered, including cases of depriving people of their legal deferment from mobilization.

This was stated by Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets.

According to him, during the inspection, representatives of the Ombudsman found that Berehove District TRC staff blocked the exit of people who had valid documents, while entering false data into the registers claiming that their deferments had allegedly been canceled.

In some cases, such decisions, according to Lubinets, were made without a meeting of the relevant commission and without a protocol. The Ombudsman also claimed that TRC staff prepared fictitious reports, which were used to deprive mobilized individuals of their rights.

In addition, during the inspection, problems were found with the conditions of people’s stay in the TRC premises. These included unsanitary conditions, a lack of clean water and linen, and the presence of only a summer shower.

Lubinets stated that the actions of the TRC staff may show signs of several criminal offenses, including unlawful deprivation of liberty, unauthorized actions with information, official forgery, and abuse of power or official authority.
