DIU detected 5,816 foreign components in 202 Russian weapons systems

Specialists of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, as of August 2026, have identified 5,816 foreign components in 202 Russian weapons systems.

This was reported by the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

Ukrainian intelligence officers demonstrated to diplomats samples of Western components found in Russian missiles, drones, and other weapons.

The DIU noted that the majority of electronic components in Russian cruise and ballistic missiles, drones, and armored vehicles are of foreign origin. According to intelligence data, Russia obtains such components from Europe, Asia, and North America, including through third countries and so-called “gray” schemes in circumvention of international sanctions.

Among the samples shown to diplomats was the Jetson Orin microcomputer from the American company Nvidia, which, according to the DIU, was recovered from the Russian S-71M “Monokhrom” cruise missile. An inertial module with components from the American company Texas Instruments and Japan’s TDK Corp. was also presented.

In addition, the intelligence officers demonstrated a sample of the Geran-2 strike drone, as well as foreign components from the Russian Geran Seeker drone and the Banderol cruise missile.

The DIU emphasized that demonstrating such samples to diplomats should help strengthen control over compliance with sanctions against Russia and block channels for the supply of foreign technologies to the Russian military-industrial complex.

“Testifying and showing the truth about the use of foreign technologies in Russia’s terror weapons is an important task in the process of monitoring sanctions compliance,” the intelligence agency noted.
