Russian S-71 "Monochrome" missile can use AI technologies — DIU

Specialists of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine have discovered an Nvidia Jetson Orin computer module in the new Russian S-71 “Monochrome” air-launched cruise missile. The use of this component may indicate the application of artificial intelligence technologies in the missile.

The Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reports.

"Military intelligence is publishing new data in the “Components in Weapons” section of the War&Sanctions portal — it concerns 35 electronic components identified in samples of weapons used by the enemy.

Among the components:

- components of a passive radar seeker that Russia has begun installing on Geran-2 UAVs to detect and strike anti-aircraft missile systems and radar stations of the Ukrainian Defence Forces;

- Chinese Honpho TS130C-01 camera from the Geran-4 jet UAV;

- components of the active seeker of the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missile.

Specialists of the Defence Intelligence and colleagues from Ukrainian research institutions continue to study Russian weapons and determine the origin of their electronic component base.

This data helps Ukraine and its partners identify critical foreign technologies used in Russian weapons and strengthen measures to block their supply to the aggressor state.

Two years of experience with the War&Sanctions portal shows that Russia is still unable to fully replace foreign high-tech components with its own analogs.

The detection of Nvidia Jetson in the new Russian missile once again demonstrates the need to strengthen sanctions pressure and coordinate the efforts of the civilized world," the statement reads.
