The head of the Korosten Military Medical Commission, Iryna Kovpanets, who signed the conclusion on the fitness for military service of a man with a disability weighing about 200 kilograms, purchased an apartment near Kyiv and a new car.

In 2024, Kovpanets became the owner of a 73.5-square-meter apartment in Sofiivska Borshchahivka valued at 3 million hryvnias. She also owns an 85-square-meter non-residential premises and a share of a house in Korosten. Since 2024, the official has been using her brother’s 296.7-square-meter house.

In August 2022, Kovpanets purchased a new KIA Sportage crossover for 1.06 million hryvnias. Last year, her husband Bohdan Kovpanets bought a premium-class Zeekr electric car for 1.8 million hryvnias, after previously selling a Volkswagen ID.4 Crozz for 1.2 million hryvnias.

Last year, Iryna Kovpanets declared about 2 million hryvnias in income, of which 1.8 million hryvnias came from her salary at her main job and part-time work at private clinics. She held over 700,000 hryvnias and 1,800 US dollars in bank accounts.

Her husband declared another 500,000 hryvnias in salary and pension. At the same time, he received 2,000 hryvnias under the state program “Winter Support.”

In early August, 46-year-old Andriy Stesyuk died at the Korosten District Territorial Recruitment Center after being brought from Ovruch for a military medical examination. The preliminary cause of death was reported as sudden cardiac arrest.

According to the man’s mother, she asked the recruitment center staff to give her son the necessary medication and water, but they allegedly refused.

Stesyuk had suffered from a chronic inflammatory bowel disease for nearly 20 years. In 2018, his second disability group was revoked. In addition, since 2008 he had been diagnosed with a mental disorder and was taking psychotropic medication. Against the background of these conditions, he developed metabolic disorders, causing his weight to reach about 200 kilograms.
