"The image of a 24-year-old girl is just an image": prosecutor requests to place Ivakhnenko in custody with bail of 50 million hryvnia

The Prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office asks the HACC to take Yelyzaveta Ivakhnenko into custody, setting bail of 50 million hryvnias as an alternative.

The prosecutor stated this during the consideration of a preventive measure for Ivakhnenko in the NABU and SAPO case "Carthage".

The prosecutor emphasized that the court should assess not the public image of 24-year-old Ivakhnenko, but the materials of the criminal proceedings.

«The image of a 24-year-old girl — is just the image of a 24-year-old girl», — the prosecutor stated.

According to him, Ivakhnenko was aware of the funds she was dealing with, understood their corrupt origin, and took measures to legalize them.

In addition, the prosecutor noted that Ivakhnenko intended to obtain a government position.

«We all know perfectly well how small the salary is in government bodies. And there is no need to guess what kind of activity the person would carry out in a government position», — added the SAPO prosecutor.
