Russian strike destroyed 41,500 Book.ua books worth over 8 million hryvnia

The bookstore chain assessed the consequences of the strike on the warehouse in Svyatopetrivske, which occurred on the night of August 28. As a result of the attack, the entire stock of paper publications of the online store was destroyed.

Book.ua reported the inventory losses itself.

According to preliminary estimates, the company lost about 41,500 books. The total cost of the destroyed publications is 8.25 million hryvnias.

The books were stored at the “Nova Poshta” warehouse in Sviatopetrivske, Kyiv region. There were editions from at least three dozen Ukrainian publishers and bookstores.

Book.ua noted that there were no injured employees at the warehouse. However, due to the destruction of the entire stock of paper books, the company was forced to temporarily suspend the acceptance and dispatch of online orders.

“Behind each of these figures are books that were supposed to reach their readers, as well as the work of our team and partners. Despite everything, our offline bookstores are operating as usual and are waiting for you,” Book.ua reported.

Currently, the chain is gradually resuming the operation of the online store. Orders on the site can already be placed, while physical bookstores continue to operate in the usual mode.

As a result of the same attack, book editions of other Ukrainian publishers and bookstores were destroyed, including Readeat, “Uroboros”, “Osnovy”, Vivat, and “A-BA-BA-HA-LA-MA-HA”.
