Germany urgently transfers PAC-2 missiles for Patriot to Ukraine before winter

Germany will urgently transfer PAC-2 interceptor missiles for Patriot air defence systems from Bundeswehr stocks to Ukraine. This was confirmed by German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius during a meeting of the Contact Group on the Defence of Ukraine in the "Ramstein" format.

According to Pistorius, Ukraine should receive the missiles for Patriot before the winter season. He called on other "Ramstein" members to check their own stocks and consider the possibility of similar deliveries.

"I decided, in parallel with the NATO summit, to urgently provide Ukraine with the necessary PAC-2 interceptor missiles from Bundeswehr stocks," Pistorius said.

The minister did not name the exact number of missiles Germany will transfer to Ukraine. At the same time, he emphasized the need to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense ahead of winter and urged allies, in case of doubt, to decide in favor of supporting Ukraine.

In addition to PAC-2, Germany will increase supplies of AIM-9 air-to-air missiles to Ukraine from Bundeswehr stocks. Pistorius also announced the continuation of deliveries of IRIS-T air defense systems and guided missiles for them.

Ukraine, in turn, plans to order several thousand additional IRIS-T guided missiles. Their financing will be provided through an EU loan to Ukraine.
