Apartments in "Fayna Town" and luxury cars: how the family of MP Areshonkov and his son from the ESBU amassed millions in assets
Volodymyr Areshonkov from the Dovira group sits on the Verkhovna Rada committee on law enforcement. In the summer of 2025 he voted for bill No. 12414, which restricted the independence of NABU and SAPO. 263 MPs pressed “For” at the time. After mass protests the changes were repealed. According to Chesno, in 2026 Areshonkov votes “For” in 78 % of cases.
This is reported by Radio Svoboda.
In July 2022 his 88-year-old mother became the owner of nearly 200 sq m of property in Vyshkovo on the banks of the Tysa: a two-storey house, seven ares of land, a summer kitchen and a garage. In the agreement examined by Schemes journalists the house was valued at a little over 800,000 UAH and the land at 12,000 UAH. The market value at the time was estimated at roughly $100–120 thousand; in April 2026 the State Property Fund valuation reached almost 8.5 million UAH.
Meanwhile, the mother’s entire official income over more than twenty years, including her pension, totals about 300,000 UAH. The deputy’s wife earned roughly 350,000 UAH over 27 years in education. In 2022 Areshonkov himself declared 1.7 million UAH in cash, but the following year he invested 1.6 million UAH in bonds. He explained the purchase of the house by saying it was an unfinished building, the family was looking for housing because of the war, and his daughter Victoria in the USA had helped with the money. He could not give journalists the exact price of the house. A month after the purchase a photograph of the estate appeared on his Facebook page.
After the journalists’ attention the house quickly changed hands. Less than two weeks later it was sold to Maryna Kryvodubska—the mother-in-law of Areshonkov’s son—for 2.8 million UAH, roughly three times below the State Property Fund valuation. The transaction was notarised by Stanislav Ivchuk, Areshonkov’s public assistant. The same notary also formalised the gift of the grandmother’s apartment in Kyiv’s Faina Town residential complex to the deputy’s grandson.
In the yard of the house in Vyshkovo journalists found a 2016 Lexus LX 450. The car’s insurance had already been taken out in 2018 in the name of Volodymyr Petrenko, co-owner of the UPG filling-station network. UPG organised events during Areshonkov’s 2019 election campaign, and Petrenko’s son was listed as the deputy’s assistant. Parking fines for the Lexus arrived on days when the Verkhovna Rada was in session. After a conversation with the journalists the car disappeared from the yard within about an hour. In Areshonkov’s 2025 declaration the Lexus appears as a vehicle he uses under power of attorney.
The deputy’s son Vitaliy Areshonkov has worked at the Bureau of Economic Security since 2022, first as an analyst and from 2023 as head of a department in the Information Analysis Department. He also heads the ESBU trade union. Between 2019 and 2023 the son’s family acquired six apartments in Faina Town.
Three apartments and a storage unit—worth about 3.5 million UAH against roughly 1.4 million UAH of her official income over twenty years—are registered in the name of his wife Oleksandra. Two more apartments in the same complex were bought by her parents, the Kryvodubskis. The daughter of Areshonkov purchased a two-room apartment. The grandmother bought a studio that she later gave to her grandson.
At the end of 2025 the grandson also received a 2019 Skoda Kodiaq that the grandmother had bought in 2023 for 1.2 million UAH. The family’s Kyiv real estate and the car total at least 12 million UAH, excluding renovations and the estate on the Tysa.
Areshonkov’s own 2025 declaration lists no personal real estate or vehicles: 952,529 UAH in salary and 217,713 UAH in pension. The house in Korosten is registered to his wife Marharyta; the Zakarpattia estate does not appear among his declared assets.
The family’s arithmetic looks as follows: roughly 300,000 UAH of the mother’s official income—and a house on the Tysa valued by the state at almost 8.5 million UAH; then the sale of that house to the son’s mother-in-law for 2.8 million UAH; real estate and a car in the son’s family worth at least 12 million UAH; and a Lexus from the UPG orbit that appeared in Areshonkov’s declaration only after journalists’ attention.
