Deputy Head of Lviv Customs Semeryak resigns: court previously acquitted him in the case of hitting a patrol officer

Dmytro Semeryak is leaving his position as Deputy Head of the Customs Information Technologies Department at the Lviv Customs Office. Against the backdrop of the recertification of customs officers, he is submitting a declaration prior to his dismissal, while his family retains significant declared assets and income.

This is reported by “Seredych”.

Dmytro Semeryak is submitting his declaration today following his dismissal from the Lviv Customs Office. His last position was Deputy Head of the Customs Information Technologies Department. Prior to that, he worked at the “Uhriniv” and “Rava-Ruska” customs posts, as well as in the property management department. The reason for his dismissal has not been disclosed. A recertification process is currently underway at the customs office.

Semeryak’s career path was accompanied by a criminal case following an incident in Lviv. On September 2, 2020, in the city center, he drove a Range Rover against the flow of traffic from Rylieieva Street onto Mateika Street. The driver twice ignored the “no entry” sign and then, on Doroshenka Street, suddenly accelerated and struck a bicycle patrol officer’s leg with the rear right wheel.

At the time, police reported that the driver was under the influence of narcotics. Initially, the Halytska Customs Office stated that the man was not its employee.

However, on January 5, 2021, the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation in Lviv notified Semeryak of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 345 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — intentional infliction of minor bodily injuries on a law enforcement officer while performing official duties.

In December 2024, Judge Vitaliy Strelbytskyi of the Halytskyi District Court of Lviv acquitted Semeryak. The court concluded that intent in his actions had not been proven.

The Range Rover involved in the incident was valued at approximately $45,000. However, Semeryak’s corresponding declaration listed a 2006 Skoda Octavia. The 2014 Range Rover Autobiography with license plate BC5555** was registered to his 62-year-old father, Mykhailo. Later, the same vehicle was listed as being in free use.

The customs officer’s wife, Iryna, declares significant income. In 2024, her business income amounted to 5,800,601 UAH. The previous year, she declared 4,441,303 UAH.

Since July 2022, the cosmetics trademark has been registered under Iryna Semeryak. In addition, she receives a salary from the individual entrepreneur “Semeryak Iryna”.

A 2023 Sea-Doo Spark Trixx 90 personal watercraft valued at 165,600 UAH is also registered to Iryna. The family has a daughter, Maia, an apartment and a room in Lviv, as well as land plots. Dmytro Semeryak himself declared 900,000 UAH in cash.

The family lives in Ivano-Frankove. In the past, Ivan Semeryak served as the village head there from 2010 until November 2020.

In 2015, Ivan Semeryak falsified a decision of the village council to rezone a 0.10-hectare plot in the Verkhnia Romanovka quarter for construction. The market value of the land was 191,000 UAH.

On November 10, 2025, the Yavoriv Court closed the case due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. Meanwhile, in the registries, Ivan Semeryak is still listed as the head of “REKS TRANS,” a company engaged in passenger transportation.

Following Dmytro Semeryak’s dismissal from the customs office, his income will be supplemented by a pension, while his wife’s business activities continue. The Range Rover registered to his father and Iryna Semeryak’s personal watercraft also remain with the family. The recertification at the Lviv Customs Office is ongoing, while Semeryak is leaving his position after submitting his declaration.
