Russia convened the UN Security Council, brazenly claiming Ukraine’s "failure to comply" with the Minsk agreements
The aggressor country Russia has once again convened the United Nations Security Council to “complain” about Ukraine. This time - allegedly for Kiev’s violation of the Minsk agreements, which in fact Moscow itself never complied with.
It is noteworthy that the members of the UN Security Council decided to meet at the request of the aggressor on the occasion of the anniversary of the resolution. The meeting will begin at 17:00 Kyiv time on February 12, Ukrinform reports.
Let us recall that the agreements, commonly called “Minsk-2”, were signed between Ukraine and Russia in mid-February 2015. And on February 17, the UN Security Council voted for the resolution that approved these agreements.
The Kremlin never complied with the Minsk agreements during the war in Donbass, but constantly accused Ukraine of violating them, which it continues to do even during a full-scale invasion.
Before it began, on February 22, 2022, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin declared that the Minsk agreements no longer existed because Russia had “recognized the independence” of the Ukrainian seized territories in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions (“LPR/DPR”).
