Ukrainian analogues of the Lancets have already been tested

Ukraine has successfully tested long-range kamikaze drones similar to the Russian Lancets.

This was announced by Minister of Digitalisation Mykhailo Fedorov on Sunday, 18 February.

According to him, the tests took place in difficult weather conditions: there was rain, snow and wind, but two out of four hit the target.

“A few days ago we tested Lancet-type products. There were four companies, and two were successful... One didn’t take off because he didn’t want to lose the board, and the fourth couldn’t because there was a problem with the camera,” he said on the YouTube channel of the Diya service.

The minister could not accurately predict when these drones will go into production, but, according to his assessment, it is a matter of several months.

“It’s difficult to reach thousands, but hundreds can be produced in a few months,” Fedorov said.

Fedorov also recalled the advantages of the Lancets and, accordingly, their Ukrainian analogues. In particular, these drones make it possible to increase the engagement distance to 40 km. As Fedorov noted, current Ukrainian copters and FPV drones operate at a range of 10 km, with a maximum of 23 km.

Note that the Lancets are one of the most effective drones of the Russian invaders on the front line. The enemy uses these drones primarily to damage/destroy large targets such as artillery systems and air defense systems. Available in heavy (12 kg, Lancet-3) and light (5 kg, Lancet-1) versions. It is very difficult to shoot down this UAV after the Orlan has already aimed it at the target.

Such drones are controlled by video, which makes it possible to target and correct movement in the event of a defeat. In addition, they have a target acquisition function, which allows you to aim at the target in the last 300-500 meters before hitting the target without direct communication with the drone.
