Podolyak explained how Trypilska TPP, destroyed by Russian strike, will be replaced: other plants will compensate
They will try to repair the equipment of the Trypilska Thermal Power Plant, damaged as a result of the Russian strike on April 11, the President’s Office said. In addition, lost capacity will be replaced with workstations and imports from abroad.
Ukraine will look for ways to compensate for the capacity of the Trypilska Thermal Power Plant, which was destroyed as a result of a Russian missile attack on the night of April 11. To restore what was lost, neighboring working heat and hydro stations are used. They will also turn to Western partners to look for “dusty Patriots” in warehouses. Western air defense systems, which are already many years old, would be needed to protect Ukrainian energy. Adviser to the head of the Presidential Office (OP) Mykhailo Podolyak spoke on the Channel 24 portal about how the problem of power supply to the central regions of the country will be solved.
Podolyak explained to journalists about possible ways to overcome the consequences of Russian shelling. To do this, they will look for internal opportunities, as well as seek help from foreign energy companies.
According to the adviser to the head of the OP, they will act as follows:
- will carry out large-scale repair work;
- use the power of thermal and hydroelectric power stations that are still operating;
- if necessary, they will begin importing electricity from abroad.
“We will work differently with the different capabilities of various thermal power plants, hydro-, heat-generating capabilities, and so on,” the adviser said.
Podolyak also addressed Western partners. In his opinion, the partners have a sufficient number of Patriot air defense systems. Installations that are many years old sit in warehouses for a long time and are not used. For some reason, they are not provided to Ukraine for protection against Russian missile attacks, although the old air defense systems will still be written off.
“Somewhere in the warehouses there is a Patriot, it does an “important job” there, gives a feeling of comfortable living. But it would be desirable to use the Patriot, which in 10 years will be written off due to a weapon upgrade,” journalists quoted Podolyak as saying.
