IDF intercepts ’vast majority’ of air targets during night attack

During a night attack from Iran using missiles and drones, Israeli air defence forces intercepted the vast majority of air targets.

This was reported by the press service of the Israel Defence Forces (IDF).

The statement indicated that most of the missiles launched from Iran were intercepted outside Israel’s borders.

According to the IDF, "dozens of surface-to-surface missile launches from Iran were recently detected that were approaching Israeli territory."

“The IDF Air Defence Team successfully intercepted the majority of the launched targets using the Arrow Air Defence System, along with Israel’s strategic allies, before the launched targets crossed into Israeli territory,” the release said.

Israel Defence Forces spokesman Daniel Hagari noted that Iran launched dozens of ballistic missiles at Israel, causing minor damage to a military base. One of the strikes injured a young girl in the Negev, and additional strikes caused “minor infrastructure damage” at a military base in southern Israel.

The IDF spokesman added that, according to doctors, the victim suffered injuries due to shrapnel due to the interception of a hostile target.

Most of the missiles were intercepted by the Arrow long-range air defense system, Hagari said. The majority of the missiles were shot down outside Israeli airspace, the rear admiral noted.

The IDF spokesman also said that the fighters also shot down dozens of cruise missiles and dozens of drones. According to him, in total Iran launched more than 200 airborne attack weapons against Israel.

“Our planes are still in the air, intercepting targets, and we are ready for any threat that comes to Israel,” he stressed.

The IDF estimates that Iran has launched more than 200 "different types" of drones overall, including kamikaze drones as well as ballistic and cruise missiles, Hagari said in response to questions from CNN .
