According to the government plan, over 5 years (the first stage is planned for the second half of 2024), the excise tax on gasoline should increase by 1.7 times, from 213 to 359 euros/1000 l, on diesel fuel - by 2.4 times, from 139 up to 330 euros/1000 l, for liquefied gas - from 52 to 70 euros/1000 l.

This will add to the current prices per liter at today’s euro exchange rate:

  • 7.3 UAH for benzine.
  • 9.6 UAH per DP.
  • 0.9 UAH for gas.

It is worth noting that in fact there are no clear requirements for the implementation of just such excise taxes. For example, in Poland and Hungary, which are members of the EU, excise taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel are lower than specified in the European Directive. In Belgium, Spain and Croatia, the excise tax on liquefied gas is much lower than the “recommended” one. In Belgium it is generally 0, but for gasoline it is one of the highest in the EU.

Each country sets its own rates based on its own economic situation.
