Detention of coal businessman Vitaliy Kropachov: details of the criminal case

The National Police reported details of the case of coal businessman Vitaly Kropachov, who was detained today.

Kropachov himself, his financial manager, director and chief accountant of the company were detained.

The police call Kropachov the “oversight” of the coal industry in the Donetsk region,” who “gained virtual control over all state-owned mines and processing plants in the eastern regions.”

“At one time, the entrepreneur received part of the assets of the Yanukovych family and actual control over all state-owned mines and processing plants in the eastern regions. In case of disagreement with the policy of the new curator, the heads of state mines immediately lost their positions, and those who occupied their places had no other choice but to work according to the “supervisor” scheme, the National Police says.

He is also charged with fraud at the Krasnolymanska mine, a controlling stake in which he bought.

Judging by the plot outlined by the police, we are talking about cases from the time of Poroshenko’s presidency, when, as it was believed, Bankova put Kropachov in charge of the coal industry.

There are three versions of why these matters are now remembered.

The first is an attempt to reach Poroshenko and people from his close circle through Kropachov.

The second is the reaction of the authorities to the media activity of Kropachov, who has been investing in the Ukraine World News project since last year (it includes the TAK TV channel).

The third is the desire, traditional for modern times, to “milk” a businessman by opening a criminal case against him.

However, the third motive can be “set” with the first two.
