Denmark announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine

Denmark announced a new, 19th package of military assistance to Ukraine. It combines "significant funding" for the Ukrainian defense industry, additional materials to support Denmark’s donation of F-16s and the transfer of weapons from the army’s own stockpile.

The Danish Ministry of Defence said on its official website on June 19 that the new assistance to Ukraine will support both immediate needs and the long-term development of the country’s self-defense capabilities. The department has not published a specific list.

Defence Minister Trols Lund Poulsen assured that Copenhagen is providing “the maximum possible support for Ukraine’s needs on the battlefield here and now.”

But the state is also obliged to help Kyiv over the next 10 years. “Therefore, we have created a Danish model of support through the Ukrainian defense industry, which will help increase Ukrainian production of military equipment in the short and long term,” explained the head of the Ministry of Defense.

"Europe is experiencing a fateful moment. Russia’s war against Ukraine has been going on for more than two years, and the situation on the battlefield is difficult... Therefore, on the Danish side, we will continue to expand our ability to support the Ukrainian defense industry, and are also pleased with the attention this has received in the EU and other countries,” added Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lykke Rasmussen.

In total, the last two aid packages have reserved 1.2 billion Danish kroner (about 173 thousand US dollars) for investment in the Ukrainian defense industry.
