Ukraine is facing a critical shortage of domestic electricity generation due to regular Russian attacks. Even maximum imports are currently unable to solve this problem.

This opinion was expressed by Serhiy Kovalenko, CEO of the energy company Yasno, on Facebook.

According to him, a difficult situation in the system will be observed over the next 6-8 weeks.

“We are now dependent on solar and wind generation, so there are significant fluctuations even one day. Currently, repair (preventive) work is underway at nuclear power plants. That’s why some blocks don’t work. Which is a very significant factor,” Kovalenko said.

He added that a new logic for distributing electricity between regions has been working in the country for several weeks. In the near future, power engineers will make a number of changes, and the new scheme will be fully operational.

“The schedules in Kyiv remained the same as there were 6 groups and white, gray and black zones. To plan your life, you should assume that there will be no light in the gray areas. Especially when the time falls during peak hours. We and OCP will communicate changes as quickly as possible. But for planning it’s better not to count,” Kovalenko concluded.
