The court has made a decision in absentia on a preventive measure for the Ukrainian MP in the form of detention. This measure will be applied when the MP returns to the territory of Ukraine.

This information was announced by the PGO spokesperson Nadiya Maksymets.

According to her, at a hearing on Thursday, 29 August, the investigating judge of the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv granted the Prosecutor General’s motion and imposed a measure of restraint on the MP in the form of detention without bail.

"The investigating judge’s ruling and the corresponding resolution on putting the latter on the wanted list will be sent to the Department of International Police Cooperation of the National Police of Ukraine to organise the entry of information on the international wanted list into the records of the Interpol General Secretariat (issuing a so-called red alert) and initiate the detention of the suspect outside Ukraine for further extradition," Maksymets said.
