The number of migrants is growing rapidly: another 400 thousand citizens have left Ukraine

According to UN estimates, as of August 19, 2024, the number of migrants from Ukraine in the world reached 6.739 million people, while a month ago it was 6.58 million people (that is, the number increased by 160 thousand).

The largest number of Ukrainian migrants live in Germany (1.1 million), Poland (976 thousand) and the Czech Republic (361 thousand).

At the same time, as noted by the NBU, the recipient countries of Ukrainian migrants are gradually complicating the conditions of their stay:

• In Poland, conditions are being created for the transition from the current temporary protection to temporary residence; from July 2024, the one-time assistance of 300 zlotys for accommodation and assistance of 40 zlotys for accommodation and food in private homes has been cancelled for most;
• The Czech Republic is introducing a restriction on residence in state humanitarian housing for no more than 150 days, after which standard rental conditions apply;
• Germany has the lowest employment rate among Ukrainians in the EU due to significant payments during studies, so they are planning to review them. Refusal to work will also be more strictly regulated.
