In Moscow, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov was killed as a result of an explosion
An explosion occurred on Ryazan Avenue in Moscow in the morning. It is reported that two people died.
This is reported with reference to Russian Telegram channels.
According to eyewitnesses, the explosion occurred at 06:11 AM. Preliminary information suggests that a few hours before the incident, an unknown person parked a scooter near the entrance of the building, to the handle of which a homemade explosive device (HED) was likely attached.
As a result of the explosion, two people died, specifically believed to be: the chief of the Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Defence forces of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov; the other deceased is likely his assistant.
As specified by Telegram channels, the explosion blew out the entrance doors and shattered the glass in the building itself. In addition, the general’s service car was damaged.
The detonation itself could have been conducted remotely. Presumably, the perpetrator or their accomplice might not have been in the line of sight and could have accessed the entrance camera, which many residents of the residential complex have.
Updated:
The Russian Telegram channel Mash reports that the second victim of the explosion in Moscow was the lieutenant general’s driver. It is claimed he arrived to pick up his boss around 6 AM to take him to work.
Currently, sappers are inspecting the area around the building on Ryazan Avenue. The scooter, to which the IED was likely attached, will be taken for examination.
