AF: The sky defenders shot down 47 "Shaheds" and simulation Russian drones overnight

The aggressor country, Russia, conducted an attack on Ukraine on the night of December 23 using 72 drones, including Shahed kamikaze drones and unidentified types. The air defence forces shot down 47 UAVs, while the rest were lost location-wise.

Air defense was active in nine regions. This was reported by the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The military reported that this enemy attack lasted from 10:00 Sunday, December 22, to 09:00 Monday, December 23. During this period, the Russians launched 72 drones from the directions of Bryansk and Oryol (Russia).

The anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defence Forces destroyed 47 Russian drones within the Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr,

Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa regions.

Due to the active opposition of the Defence Forces, the remaining 25 enemy UAV simulators were lost location-wise (without negative consequences).

At the same time, in Khmelnytskyi and Kyiv regions, private enterprises and citizens’ homes were damaged as a result of the Russian attack. Preliminary reports suggest no casualties, and assistance is being provided to the affected.

In the night, air defense forces destroyed 12 Shaheds over the Sumy region. Four more Russian UAVs were neutralized in the Cherkasy region.

According to the Kyiv Regional State Administration, fragments of downed enemy targets damaged a power line in one district and four private houses, a garage, and three cars in another.
