Two residents of the Poltava region have been charged with the murder of a serviceman from the TRC

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General on Facebook.

«Under the procedural guidance of the Lubny District Prosecutor’s Office, two individuals - residents of Lubny and Poltava - have been charged», the report states.

One is accused of obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a special period, intentional murder, and theft of firearms using violence (Part 1 Article 114-1, Part 1 Article 115, Part 3 Article 262 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The other one is accused of being an accomplice in obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a special period (Part 5 Article 27 Part 1 Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, on January 31 of this year, a resident of Poltava, along with other mobilized individuals accompanied by servicemen of the Poltava RTRC, was heading for training to a military unit.

Aiming to evade military service, he called an acquaintance from Lubny several times, informing him of the bus route.

When the bus stopped at a gas station in Pyryatyn, the resident of Lubny, with a shotgun he brought with him, shot one of the escorts, causing the serviceman a gunshot wound incompatible with life.

After this, he seized the victim’s automatic weapon and fled the scene with his accomplice.

A few hours later, the suspects were detained. During a search, law enforcement officers seized from the Lubny resident 2 grenade bodies, a hunting rifle, cartridges, a balaclava, mobile phones, and other items.

The physical evidence has been sent for examination. The serviceman’s automatic weapon was found in a forest plantation where the suspects left it.

Pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is ongoing.

The issue of selecting preventive measures for the suspects is being resolved.
