Ministry of Defence: Evaders should be searched by the police and local authorities, not the TRC
Territorial recruitment and social support centers do not have the authority to search for those evading mobilization; this is a task for local authorities and the police.
This was reported by the First Deputy Minister of Defence, Lieutenant General Ivan Havrylyuk.
He emphasized that the TRC is responsible only for a specific list of tasks — maintaining records of mobilized persons, selection, and replenishment of the Defence Forces.
"Many Ukrainians believe that TRCs are solely responsible for mobilization. This is not the case. The Law of Ukraine ’On Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization’ clearly defines all participants in the process, their tasks, and their areas of responsibility. A large part of the tasks related to mobilization measures is entrusted to government authorities and the police. For example, if military-obligated citizens of Ukraine do not report to the TRC during the legal regime of martial law, local authorities and the police are tasked with ensuring their delivery. They have sufficient authority for this," Havrylyuk emphasized.
He also noted that local authorities should conduct appropriate informational work in communities to convey to people the importance of defending the country.
"You understand that without mobilization, we can lose the country. No matter how many robotic systems, means of destruction, weapons, and military equipment we have, all of this is controlled by humans," the deputy minister emphasized.
Havryliuk reminded that currently, the informational space "is focused on negativity cultivated against TRC employees, and this is unacceptable."
