Artist Yevhen Baraban spoke about the brutal treatment of the mobilized in Kyiv
«Treated like cattle before death». Ukrainian artist Yevhen Baraban shared how mobilized people are treated in Kyiv.
On February 7, he reported that he was mobilized during a medical examination, despite previously being declared unfit due to a number of illnesses (evidently, he was re-evaluated as partially unfit, as required by law).
The doctors of the Medical Commission informed him that their decision was based on the electronic system eHealth, which did not contain any data about past surgeries and heart defects. After this, Yevhen was «pushed into a van» and taken from the Solomianskyi Military Enlistment Office to the distribution point on Zroshchuvalna Street (calling the police did not help, as the officers were simply not allowed into the enlistment office).
According to him, hundreds of people are held in the distribution point in terrible conditions - without water, food, and toilet paper. One night, they were kept in an unheated damp basement due to an alarm.
One person had three epileptic seizures - the medic who came after the third time tried to claim it was alcoholism. There were also drug addicts experiencing withdrawal symptoms and apparent disabled individuals at the distribution point. Yevhen published a video with an epileptic patient and a man limping across the yard, being led to a military bus.
These posts and footage have since been removed from Yevhen’s pages. Instead, today he wrote a post saying that he is «alive, healthy, and will be in touch soon». The Solomianskyi Military Enlistment Office did not comment on this situation.
