Attack by the Russian Federation on Sumy: SES showed footage of the aftermath
In the evening of Sunday, February 9, Russian occupying forces attacked Sumy with Shahed-type attack UAVs.
This was reported by the acting mayor, Artem Kobzar, on his Facebook page. According to him, cars are on fire, windows in residents’ apartments are shattered.
Explosions in the city were heard around 11:00 PM. An air raid alert has been announced in most regions of Ukraine due to the threat of enemy attack UAVs.


"Unfortunately, there is another ’Shahed’ strike. A lot of vehicles are damaged. The State Emergency Service, police, and ambulance are working at the scene. Many windows are broken," said the mayor.

The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Artyukh, clarified that the strike occurred in a residential neighborhood. There are houses and schools nearby. Rescue services are currently inspecting apartments.
Three houses and 15 cars were damaged in the city. Six cars were on fire. "We are searching the apartments for injured people," he added.
The State Emergency Service later clarified that the fire at the parking lot in Sumy was extinguished. Initially, there were no casualties or injuries.


The Sumy City Council reported that, initially, 15 cars and windows in three houses on Armed Forces of Ukraine Street and Zalyvna Street were damaged. In one of them, gas supply is absent.
It is also noted that gas service workers "are ready to start the work on restoring gas supply in the morning."
