Zelenskyy hopes that pressure from the United States will force Russia to end the war

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope that U.S. pressure would be sufficient to compel Russia to end the war.

He stated this following the Ukrainian delegation’s briefing on their meeting with U.S. representatives in Saudi Arabia.

Zelenskyy emphasized that the conversation between the two delegations was extremely constructive. 

He reported that the Ukrainian representatives informed the American side about Ukraine’s key positions. They also discussed in detail the need to ensure security and cooperation with European partners, as well as further joint actions. 

The Ukrainian president noted that for more than a day, "the world has not heard a substantive response from Russia regarding the proposals that were presented." 

"And this once again confirms that it is Russia that seeks to continue the war and is trying to delay the onset of peace as much as possible. We hope that the pressure from the United States will be enough to compel Russia to end the war," he remarked. 

Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine was ready for silence in the sky and at sea, but the American side proposed silence on land as well. 

"Ukraine accepts this proposal. A crucial issue is control, and we are grateful to the American side for their willingness to organize the technical aspects of control," he added.
