Russians claimed the "liberation of the Kursk region": the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine refuted

The Chief of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff, Gerasimov, reported to Putin about the "complete liberation of the Kursk region" from Ukrainian forces, stated Peskov.

Gerasimov stated that today control over the village of Gornal, the last settlement in the Kursk region where Ukrainian Armed Forces were still present, was regained by Russia.

Putin declared that the "liberation of the Kursk region paves the way for the complete defeat of the Kyiv regime."

Gerasimov stated that Russian troops are now creating a "security zone" in the Sumy region.

The General Staff refuted Putin’s report about the "liberation" of the Kursk region.

"Statements by representatives of the high command of the aggressor country about the alleged completion of hostilities in the territory of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation do not correspond to reality," the message reads.

The Ukrainian Defence Forces’ defensive operation in designated areas of the Kursk region continues. Since the beginning of the day, five enemy assault actions have been repelled in the operational zone of the "Kursk" troop grouping, with another such combat encounter currently ongoing.

There is no threat of encirclement of our units.

"Statements by the enemy leadership about the ‘defeat’ of the Ukrainian troop grouping are nothing but a propaganda ploy and an attempt to present wishful thinking as reality. The active actions of our troops in designated areas of the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation are also ongoing," the General Staff added.
