Zelenskyy: Russia is trying to mislead America and continue to prolong the war

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening address.

"Russians talk a lot about their alleged readiness to accept American proposals, but so far no preparations by the Russian army for a real ceasefire have been observed," Zelenskyy said.

The President added that Russia, despite its statements, resumed its usual assault activity after Easter, and at the cost of significant losses, the Russians are trying to advance.

"And every day of such battles on the front lines absolutely clearly proves that Russia is really trying to deceive the world - fool America and others - and prolong this war," the head of state added.

Pressure on Russia

In his opinion, pressure on the Russian Federation must be intensified so that the Russians "take all necessary steps to stop the war."

"Yesterday’s meetings in the Vatican and Rome confirmed that our partners understand what is happening. Ukraine is ready to move as quickly as possible in the field of diplomacy," Zelenskyy emphasized.

The President recalled that Ukraine agreed to the American proposal of an unconditional ceasefire 47 days ago, and later offered Russia to at least stop strikes on civilian objects. But the occupiers respond with ’Shaheds,’ missiles, artillery, and new assaults.

"A proper response from the world is needed - new sanctions and even more pressure. Of course, it is America that can take the most significant steps - tangible for Russia," the president emphasized.
