The parliament members want to increase compensation for housing rent: how much money they will receive

The Head of the Committee on Rules of Procedure, Parliamentary Ethics, and Organization of Work of the Verkhovna Rada, Serhiy Kalchenko (Servant of the People faction), proposes that the parliament increase the amount of compensation provided to members of parliament for housing rental in Kyiv.

This is stated in the draft resolution No. 13216.

According to the current budget, compensation for a Verkhovna Rada member for renting housing or a hotel room is 650 hryvnias per day.

In total, deputies receive from 18,000 to 20,000 hryvnias per month depending on the number of calendar days in the month.

It is proposed to amend the budget and increase the amount of compensation to 27,000 hryvnias.

The explanatory note states that it is necessary to increase the deputies’ compensation due to a significant rise in the consumer price index for the period from 2018 to 2024.

According to Article 35 "On the Status of a People’s Deputy," funds for housing rental are provided in the expenditures for the activity support of the Rada.

Deputies have the right to receive these funds if they are not provided with housing in Kyiv and their place of residence, according to registration, is located more than 30 km from the boundaries of Kyiv.
