Exchange of prisoners "1000 for 1000" may take place next week, - Budanov

A major prisoner exchange in the format of "a thousand for a thousand" will take place next week.

This was reported by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov.

"I hope it will happen next week, by the lists, you understand — there will be an exchange, so to speak, we will take back whomever we can, and we will give back likewise," he clarified.

Let us remind you that in Istanbul on Friday, May 16, negotiations took place between Ukraine and Russia. After the meeting, Defence Minister Rustem Umyerov stated that a prisoner exchange in the format of "1000 for 1000" might take place in the near future.

"We know the date, but we will not announce it yet," he said.

Umerov emphasized that the Ukrainian delegation has a directive from the president. According to him, during the meeting, representatives of the countries discussed the issues of ceasefire and prisoner exchange.

The representative of Russia at the negotiations, Vladimir Medinskiy, also confirmed a "1000 for 1000" exchange in the near future.
