"Three years we didn’t eat chocolate": Freed prisoners of war share a treat
On May 25, the final stage of the prisoner exchange between Ukraine and the aggressor country Russia took place in the "1000 for 1000" format.
The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, published a video on Facebook showing the return of 303 Ukrainians from Russian captivity.
He noted that a large number of Ukrainian defenders, who were captured in 2022, have returned home.
In the video that the Ombudsman posted on Instagram, one of the freed Ukrainian soldiers holds a small piece of chocolate, saying he hasn’t eaten any since being captured.
"For three years, we haven’t eaten chocolate. Now we will eat it," said the soldier.
He broke a small square of chocolate into pieces and shared it with the other liberated men.
"A piece each, hold on. Come on, for Ukraine! Glory to Ukraine!" emphasized the warrior freed from Russian captivity.
