Zelenskyy explained the purpose of Operation "Web": Losses will push Russia towards diplomacy

Operations like "Web" should push Putin’s Russia towards diplomacy.

This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his speech at the Vilnius Summit of the Bucharest Nine and Nordic Countries in Vilnius on Monday, June 2.

"This is a special moment. On one hand, Russia has launched a summer offensive, but on the other - it is forced to participate in diplomacy. And this is both a challenge and a real opportunity for all of us. It’s a chance to try to end this war," he stated.

According to Zelenskyy, supporting Ukraine’s defense remains a priority, and he is grateful for all the provided aid packages and for the investments in weapon production in Ukraine and the development of production in partner countries.

The Ukrainian leader believes that Europe and the US have better weapons than Russia.

"We also have more powerful tactical solutions. Our Operation Web yesterday proved that. Russia must realize what it means to incur losses. This is what will push it towards diplomacy," he emphasized.

He stressed that it is now necessary to strengthen Ukraine to be able to stop this war and prevent its expansion.

"That is why weapon production matters," Zelenskyy emphasized.

He recalled that Ukraine is capable of covering up to 40% of its arms needs through its own production, but stable funding is required for this.

"Our operation shows how significant the impact of investments can be, especially in drone production," the president concluded.
