Russian attack on Kyiv: Intelligence Aviation assisted in extinguishing large-scale fire
Aviators from the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine joined the firefighting efforts in the capital following the Russian terrorist attack on Tuesday.
This was reported by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence.
"Last night, the Russian occupation forces launched another terrorist attack on Ukraine’s capital using Shahed-type drones. As a result of the enemy attack, a large-scale fire broke out in the Obolonsky district of Kyiv. Following the order of the head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, the aviation of the Directorate was promptly engaged in eliminating the aftermath of the attack," the press service reported.
It is noted that two multipurpose Ka-32 helicopters were deployed for the operation. Under conditions of heavy smoke and high temperatures, the crews carried out 40 water drops with a total volume of about 120 tons.
According to the commander of the aviation unit of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, codenamed "Maestro," large fires were recorded at civilian infrastructure sites following the barbaric strikes on Kyiv.
After receiving orders from Budanov, representatives of the Directorate contacted the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and coordinated efforts allowed for the large-scale fire to be extinguished within three hours.
"Thanks to the coordinated actions of the firefighters and aviation support, three industrial enterprises were saved," the institution noted.
Fires are still being extinguished in Kyiv following the night attack, according to local public sources.
