At gas stations, counterfeit fuel was being sold instead of gasoline: law enforcement officers revealed where Ukrainians were being sold counterfeit

Ukrainian law enforcement agencies have detected and halted the activities of a criminal group whose members were producing and distributing counterfeit gasoline in various regions of Ukraine.

This was reported by the press service of the Bureau of Economic Security.

According to the pre-trial investigation, the criminal group consisted of three individuals. They had been producing and distributing counterfeit gasoline for about a year and a half. The leader of this criminal group was the director of an enterprise in the Poltava region. Her accomplices were a technologist and a driver from an enterprise in the Kyiv region.

Where was the counterfeit gasoline sold?

The pre-trial investigation established that the illegal production of fuel was organized at an oil depot in the Kyiv region. The counterfeit gasoline was distributed through gas stations in several regions of our country, including Kyiv, Poltava, and Rivne regions. This fuel was also sold to enterprises.

Based on these facts, detectives from the Bureau of Economic Security have opened a criminal case under Parts 2, 3 of Article 27, Part 3 of Article 28, and Parts 1, 2 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal production, storage, sale, or transportation with the intent to sell excise goods and committing a crime as part of an organized group). A criminal group consists of three or more individuals.

During searches conducted at offices and the oil depot, law enforcement officers discovered and seized a large quantity of organic liquid based on alcohol and gasoline. Documents confirming the illegal activities were also seized. The suspects have already been notified of the suspicion of committing a crime as specified in Parts 2, 3 of Article 27, Part 3 of Article 28, and Parts 1, 2 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The materials of the criminal case and the indictment have been sent to court for consideration on the merits.
