Yermak: Trump could end the war in Ukraine by the end of this year

U.S. President Donald Trump can end the war in Ukraine by the end of 2025.

This was stated by the Head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak, as reported by The Times.

In an interview with The Times podcast The General and The Journalist, Yermak noted that only economic hardships can truly make Russian dictator Vladimir Putin realize that continuing this war imposes too heavy a burden on him.

According to Yermak, Trump can indeed stop the war in Ukraine "by the end of this year" if he implements his threat to impose significant new sanctions on anyone buying Russian oil and gas.

According to the adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the threat of secondary sanctions will be effective as it also creates pressure on China and India—two of the largest importers of Russian fossil fuels—to insist on reaching a deal to avoid their own new trading conflicts with the White House.

"These new sanctions from the United States are so important because, unfortunately, this year the price of oil allowed him to finance his war machine," Yermak noted.

It is noteworthy that, according to Trump’s plan, if peace in Ukraine is not achieved within 50 days, tariffs of 100 percent will be imposed on goods imported into the U.S. from any country importing any goods from Russia.

"They (the sanctions, - ed.) will create very strong pressure on Putin, and he will lose enormous finances. Countries buying Russian oil will also put pressure on him," Yermak concluded.
