Yermak commented on Peskov’s statement regarding the "possible" meeting of leaders

Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, commented on August 4 on the statement made by the press secretary of the illegitimate president of the aggressor country, Vladimir Putin, Dmitriy Peskov, regarding the need for "preparatory work" to be conducted before a meeting between the leaders of Russia and Ukraine can take place.

Peskov noted that Putin could meet with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but first preparatory work at the expert level is necessary.

"This looks like another delay tactic since there is no specificity in it. Ukraine’s position is clear: we are ready for a leaders’ meeting. Our partners, all who truly value peace, support Ukraine’s stance that the leaders’ meeting should take place," wrote the head of the President’s Office.

He added that Ukraine is grateful to President Donald Trump for his consistency regarding the end of the war, as well as for his efforts to bring this meeting closer.

"If it’s just about preparation, then that’s definitely not on us: we are ready even now. And the endless ’not ruling out’ without a specific date is unacceptable," Yermak concluded.
