A fraudster who posed as a military officer robbed a woman of 400,000: the court delivered a verdict
In Kyiv, a court sentenced a man linked to theft. He introduced himself to a woman as a military officer and then stole over 400,000 hryvnias from her apartment.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv police. The court sentenced the criminal to six years in prison.
According to law enforcement, the incident occurred in October 2024. At that time, a resident of the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv contacted them and reported a theft.
During a conversation with law enforcement, the complainant explained that she had a male guest whom she had met the day before. The new acquaintance introduced himself as a senior military officer, spoke about his service and deployments, and quickly gained her trust.

"Later, the apartment owner told the offender about her intention to buy real estate, and one day, when she left for errands and left the guest alone at home, he stole over 400,000 hryvnias from her apartment," the press service added.
The police promptly found and detained the perpetrator – it turned out to be a previously convicted 58-year-old native of the Chernihiv region, who had no connection to military service.
The stolen money was seized from him, and he was charged with theft committed under martial law conditions (Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). After reviewing the evidence collected by law enforcement, the district court found the man guilty of theft and sentenced him to six years in prison.
