Ukraine is preparing the 5th Crimea Platform Summit and expects the participation of foreign leaders
Ukraine is preparing for the 5th summit of the International Crimea Platform and expects the participation of many foreign leaders.
This was stated by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Maryana Betsa at the fourth international forum of the expert network of the International Crimea Platform.
Betsa noted that the Crimean issue is gaining special significance now, in the year of the 80th anniversary of the UN. According to her, the Ukrainian side understands that more needs to be done to draw the attention of the international community to the de-occupation of Crimea.
"Every year, we promote a resolution on human rights in the temporarily occupied territories within the framework of the UN General Assembly. This year, we will also vigorously promote this. We are also preparing the 5th summit of the International Crimea Platform, and it will be an important summit. We hope that many foreign leaders will attend," the deputy minister said, without specifying the date of the event.
She added that the issue of Crimea is central to the current Russian aggression, while the recognition of the deportation of Crimean Tatars as genocide is also important.
"This is extremely important because it is also about crimes and restoring justice. And I want to thank the parliamentarians of Poland, Estonia, the Czech Republic, and the Netherlands for their respective decisions to recognize Stalin’s deportation as genocide of the Crimean Tatar people," Betsa noted.
